2-23: French Toast

As you no doubt have noticed - if you've been reading all along - the development of this strip is as much about wander style as it is about storyline. Recent editions have been all about coverage and conversation, and there are times when I really enjoy doing this, stretching my limitations as an illustrator. In case it's not clear, I tried to emphasize that they're not all that cozy yet by making the couch seem impossibly long and putting a great deal of distance between them. Hence, this drunken conversation. As Barney Gumble once put it, "Sweet, beautiful drunk-talk."

I'll never be a master of verisimilitude, but I can at least try to improve my staging, angles, facial impressions and body language.
