I forgot to do a canonical explanation about the gym and what that big cylinder thing is behind them. I hope to still put that in eventually, but the gym is in a pocket dimension because it's bigger than the storage closet Felicity's dad built it in.

Because it's an ongoing spell to connect the closet's door to the pocket dimension, the tank is used to fuel the spell. It gets refilled anytime someone does the spell and there's a little too much mana. The excess mana gets collected into the mana tank.
