Ch 4: Pg 45: More Fighting With Magic

I don't know how practical fighting with magic whips is, but I thought it might look cool. Plus, I tend to think flinging around colored light for magic fights is boring. Might as well use guns at that point.

The killing curse, for instance, in Harry Potter is a bit lazy to me. Tons of ways to kill someone with magic. Killing curse is a bit too OP and if you're going to have it, it should be difficult to use. Even if you want Voldemort to be able to use it all the time, it should be impressive that he can use it and not just a go-to for bad guys.

On the other hand, a different Harry, Harry Dresden, has it illegal to kill anyone with magic. Throw a well placed fireball spell and burn the person up. Just as forbidden, just as dangerous. That being said, I think Autra trying to impale Felicity on a spike and Felicity being able to deflect it is a more creative way of trying to kill someone with magic and not just have a "can't deflect or dodge, lol!"

But I'm not here to crap on Harry Potter. While I try not to compare Remedial Magic with Harry Potter and don't want it seen as a knockoff of Harry Potter, I wouldn't have gotten the idea for Remedial Magic if it weren't for Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, The Dresden Files, and Discworld.
