I reckon at some time we all question the whys and wherefore of love. Why we don't have it (if we don't), why it dies away into something awful (when it dies) and even, why it exists at all, making us so emotionally overwhelmed and vulnerable… Jen is asking about that, because she feels her connection to Jess is beyond the norm. Well she's right, but it will be a long time yet before our players discover what you the readers already should know…
