Around the time this page was uploaded, a new anime called "Black clover" came out. It's terrible, very terrible, and like the self-improvement nut that I am, I examined it to see where it went wrong. One of the biggest issues I have with the story so far is that, its too generic.
There's nothing wrong with taking something that works and using it again, as long as you're adding something new to it or put a different spin on it to stay original. But this show and even the manga, didn't really bring anything new to the shonen genre. I feel like the author tried to write a story based purely on trends rather than experimenting with unexplored ideas.
After watching black clover, I took the time to re-examine the direction this story was going in just to check if I had accidentally slipped up to avoid trapping myself in black clover's situation. Some of the best lessons can be learned from other's mistakes.
