What If...?

This is my concession to god-bothering. If there happened to be a god, any god, gods of any kind, they would not be here any more. The evidence speaks against their continued existence or residence here: people the world over see different things that depend on their cultures, and claim they all prove their, and not another, god. This is just a circumstantial point, but the best we have today is anecdotal hearsay, whereas in the ancient world supposedly gods flourished and flounced everywhere. The rampant destruction, the immense loss of life from random natural disasters, the fairly unfair way that life is split between killers and victims.

In short, we are not graced by a supernatural father figure, or a pantheon, but left to our own devices and we are killing each other hoping that someone would step in and stop us before it is too late.

No, the gods, if they existed, are likely not hanging around this tiny, insignificant, little speck of a world. Earth is so small, so incredibly minuscule, in our universe, and even in our galaxy, that I can be assured by the probability alone that there are no gods anywhere near us.

There are so many more interesting things happening in the universe than watching a planet full of pestilential parasites blow each other up.
