How I save myself daily

I've never once in my life assumed that believers, because of their beliefs, were anything other than ordinary people, who feature the same wants and desires of other people. That include abstinence, drinking, perverse thoughts about conversationally indecent things, drugs and the refusal to do drugs. They're just, supposedly, following the teachings of a higher power, and, as usual, cherry-picking to suit their lives. That's normal for people.

So I don't mind it at all if some religious person goes against their creed and drinks or eats something their holy text says they shouldn't.

What I do mind is the assumption that, because I'm an atheist, automatically I'm roiling in debauchery, drugs, and alcohol daily. Um, no.

Fuck you.

I don't drink; I know what that shit does to your body. I don't do drugs; like I need more problems in my life. I don't go sleeping around, with whores, other men, or, like the Catholic church is wont to do, with children; I have more respect for other people, though I have a general loathing for everyone in general, and I know of most of the things that can be passed on through unprotected sex.

Sure there's some atheists out there getting their funk on every night, but statistically, it's more likely that there's more Christians out there breaking every commandment out there every night than there are sinning atheists.

And the next time someone whines to me that their god saved them from a life of depravity, I'll shake my head in pity.

Because here I am, godless, and not stoned or sloshed.
