#136 - What Kind of Shape Are You In?

No Stone, mangled is definitely not a shape one would aspire to become. Next time, keep mom away from the treadmill controls!

So, a little background on Stone, for those of you not in the loop. Stone started off as a little inside joke back in high school amongst Heather/The Real Hazel and one of her friends, Mike, known back then to us as "big Mike", as he was the taller one of the two Mikes we knew at that point. They would write each other notes throughout the day and pass them to each other when they passed in the hallways. At the bottom of said notes, they would draw a little smiley face indicated to be Stone Gossard (of Pearl Jam) with some silly saying. After seeing a note or two, I started drawing cartoons of Stone, at first just acting out some situation where his name would be involved (for example, "Stone Deaf" would be Stone cupping his ear going "heh?"; "Stone Cold" would be Stone hugging himself shivering; "Stone Henge" was lots of Stones in the formation of Stonehenge. You get the picture?). Then it became silly things, like "Stone as a fountain in a Park" with a naked Stone with a strategically placed censor bar and him spitting water out, or "Stone saves the World" which involved a box of Sputnuts Donuts and some odd looking space aliens who were so touched by Stone's generousity that they decided to call off the whole alien invasion thing. Weird, yes, I know. But it was hilarious to me, Heather and Big Mike. Unfortunately most of those little comics I don't have, as I drew them for Heather & Mike, so maybe one day if they come across them THEY'LL SEND THEM TO ME…(*hint hint*)

This is really only the second time I've put Stone in an actual storyline (in 12th grade I put him in a comic book for a Humanities class project). I think I have that somewhere, and if I find it (or any other Stone comics) while I'm in the process of moving I'll put it up when I have a chance (aka in January or later). I'm looking forward to making up weird stories about his past :P
