Uh oh… Someone's being used and abused!

Now, on that last panel, it's hard to see, but that glowing item on SHELL's chest armor is the pendant from the Ancestry issue. To sum up, it "activated" itself from within the exosuit, and the armor of volucite responds to it with it's levitation.

As some of you already know, the concept of the volucite is loosely based on Hayao Miyazaki's "Laputa: Castle in the Sky," and in that story, the pendant was pretty much a control/power switch/key for the volucite. Now, since the armor material itself and the pendant are not electronics, electromagnetic pulses/bursts would not affect it.

EDIT:

Azu - Oh yeah, absolutely. Repulsor/repeller systems, robotic strength multipliers, comm, scanners… useless.

So now, if you think back to an HUA chapter I did with a certain nuclear explosion, one goes to wonder how SHELL's system wasn't shut down by the burst of electromagnetic radiation from that one. Short answer is: it did. I will probably explain the missing pieces of that event later. Hell, I might even draw it out when I post the re-hash of HUA chapters I did with SHELL in 'em.
