One of my favorite movies ever is The Blues Brothers. Great music, funny story, hilarious sight gags, and well, great music.
The band needs to be lucky they can play, because Matt "Guitar" Murphy, "Blue" Lou and the rest. None of them could act their way out of an episode of The Gauntlet.
Needless to say, it's still a classic after all these years. From the opening scenes with Frank Oz giving "Joliet" Jake Blues his personal effects, right on down to the "Jailhouse Blues" number, in jail. It's the best musical comedy starting Saturday Night Live alum ever.
The sequel, while dissapointing, still holds a special place in my heart.
It's the movie I went on with my first date in college. The girl asked me to go, she worked at the theater, and got us in. It was pretty empty and we sat in the back.
Right around the midway point she decided it was a great time to kiss. And well, I didn't see the rest of the movie until it came out on VHS.
It's the only time I've been upset that a girl made a move on me. Because I really wanted to see the flick.
Her and I kind of fizzled out a few months later. But not without my fair share of mom conversations that basically went like this: Mom: What'd you two do last night? Me: Saw a movie. Mom: How was it? Me: (not wanting to say, "We didn't watch most of it.") Nothing special. (shifty eyes…)
I'm having computer problems, so I may have to go to Plan B for tomorrow, which is to upload a few things from my mom's computer.
