Someone once criticized us for featuring punk bullies in the comic, since they argued that in reality, punks were more often the ones that were picked on. Regardless of how true that might be, our comic isn't inspired by the real-life '80s. It's mostly inspired by the '80s seen in awesome and terrible '80s movies, where punks were nearly ubiquitous as low-tier villains.

And for the record, Jessica was way into punk rock as a teenager, and I used to sing in a horror punk band.
