So if you're still wondering, yes that is Hervé and now a word on his design. First off I couldn't stop laughing at the fact that people responded to scorch having a 'pumpkin face' but when they see an eyeball in a black mass peering out of a closet that's completely normal. XD

So what's up with that 'look'…well as you know Hervé is a closet monster. When the preliminary work was starting there were several designs made. Imediately I started off with your typical huge hairy, with lots of teeth, monster. It upset me though that those kinds of closet monsters are forced to look cute no matter how you put them. The other versions were a little more dark and inching over the bar of just plain terrifying. Most of which wouldn't fit the overall theme of 'Scorch'.

So at this point I took a more psychologicly disturbing approach. I thought…what is the most menacing feature on monster creatures? of course, the all-seeing, all-knowing eyes. (which in some horrific cases aren't even visable) From there, that concept applied itself to the ideal closet monster syndrome. Closet monsters are a figment of children's imaginations or rather…'the minds eye'. So a giant eyeball retains itself from being overly scary or cutesty but incredibly disturbing if you…turn your head just right.

and the googickily glop sprang from your typical horror movie ooze. Hervé was originaly scorch's shadow (still applicable) but the disfiguring ooze allows me to shape it and give a negative mass form and character.

well thats all for now… there is much more to explain but I enjoy letting people watch things unfold.
