In the Author's Notes on the previous page, I summarised Pliny's actual account of a "Druid's egg" and the seven serpents. On this page, I should add that Pliny never said the serpents in question were giant serpents … That's just me taking liberties. Again!

Oh, and Shades has just joined the growing list of DD comics to be given a positive review by Ain't it Cool News. Hooray!
