"Brighid's braids!" was an oath I invented especially for Boo.

Brighid was a Celtic goddess, the patron of many things relevant to Boo (including motherhood, home and hearth, fire and - in some Celtic cultures - martial arts) as well as a warrior. That made her an appropriate deity for Boo to invoke but, if I'd had any doubts, they disappeared when I found that the name "Brighid" is derived from the Celtic for (according to some translations) "fiery spear"!

I don't know if Brighid ever wore braids but, since there are no surviving images of her, I feel perfectly justified in assuming she did!
