Bad news for anyone who likes the flashback sequences in Shades, I'm afraid. This is the last one! :(

For this sequence, I was looking for an effect similar to a 16th Century engraving. Nickel used more cross-hatching than usual and I asked Qoiri to leave the inks uncoloured. In the end, Qoiri did colour them by mistake and so he subsequently converted them to greyscale. As you can see, the final result actually looks a lot like a 16th Century lithograph, which may not be exactly what I'd had in mind, but it does look pretty damn cool!

Oh, and on the subject of the 16th Century, in the last chapter UsedBooks queried Credo's use of the word "potion". Hopefully that makes a little more sense now!
