Ten can’t actually see or hear what’s going on. All he sees are the saplings in the ground. But the twins can see it all, and relay what’s going on to him.

The babies are different because they’re a different kind of tree. Not that the old mother tree cares a whit. She’s just overjoyed to have the company.
