I just came back from the movies. My friends and I went to watch Terminator: Salvation.

I have to say that I'm a big fan of the Terminator franchise, but after the crapfest that was T3, I really didn't looked forward to Salvation, and I was considering just wait until the DVD. However, Up was sold out, so we just decided to watch Salvation.

The good things? It was WAAAAAAAAAAY better than T3. The action was pretty cool and the Marcus and Kyle Reese characters had some interesting development at the beggining. There was some nice nods to Terminator and Judgment Day, specially one scene where "You could be mine" was played for a few seconds (Guns'n Roses ROCKS).

The bad things? The CGI was tacky some times, specially with the T-800 and the Governator's "cameo". But most importantly, there was no progression or development to the John Connor character. Why he is the "Choosed One"? Why he, and only he, can be the world's savior? Why is he so important to the Resistance, that Skynet (played by Helena Bonham Carter? Cmon!) takes so much trouble in trying to destroy him?

I know that there are sequels in the making, but I think that they could put some more development in the Connor's "Hero´s Journey".

Overall, Salvation was cool, but is pretty obvious that the franchise peak was Judgement Day…

Lucky for me, movie tickets here only cost $4…
