That first panel is one of the rare shots that I really like what I did. Such movement.

The hat toss is inspired by the awesome Kung Lao of Mortal Kombat who was inspired by Captain America. Hitting someone in the face and then knocking their hand to shoot their partner, I think this may be upon the coolest shield throws in comic history.

Among the mixing of cultures, you'll notice the beads and crucifix on Yuka's right hand. The beads are monk beads as used by eastern or Shaolin monks (yea I know that's Chinese) attached to the cross. Yuka wears it there as she believes it helps guide her aim in battle. Looking at the first panel, I think it works.
