Shock Absorber

Author notes

page 10
edbang onSo I get a visit from these nice gentlemen… and a long story short, I get a comic page from it…
My response was pretty much the same as this guy's response.
I really respect people going around with the intention of saving people as an act of faith, sacrificing their time, safety, and pride in the process. Like what the original Apostles used to do…
I'll probably be dancing around a bit the controversy line with this one, but oh well. :-/
Update: May 11th, 2009: Unfortunately there will be no Shock Absorber installment this week, as I fell behind on the page because of personal reasons. Thanks for understanding! :-)

Ah, so next page our hero will decide to put on a mask, and fight supervillains in the name of Jesus! 8-D
Look at those buff dudes going door to door. They're in disguise!!

@JNP: You have a point there… I think a big part of their converts are already christian… ah well.
I still admire their guts to go out and apend their time doing something like this. It's one of the things Jesus said to go out and do. I'm not too sure about their message, though…
I think the next page'll set the direction of the comic… so far it's been a little in the air…

I have mixed feelings about these people as well. I wonder if they actually get NEW people involved.
You would suspect only people that are already associated with something similar would take time out to listen.
Dawww, now I am curious to what you would have originally done for your next page. Darn it EEN, quit changing the script!!! XD

Ok. You've convinced me. I was thinking of continuing a line of thinking to kinda put these kinda things down, but I just can't find the heart to do it.
I'm more interested in building people up anyway…
Thanks for the comments! :^)

I don't see how it is controversial. I think you presented them in an honest way, you just didn't show yourself as overly receptive which was your honest response. You drew them as clean cut and wrote them as respectful and it isn't as if you suggested they were doing anything wrong or their actions were silly. Plus your author's notes openly praise their dedication and intentions. Last time I check it was okay to say you respect but don't share someone's beliefs.
Unless there was a subtext I missed somewhere I think you are okay.
