I like the line art - simple, defining, and separates the characters well enough from the background. Background images here may take away from your characters, without some thicker black lines to help them stand out.
As it is right now, your line art works for the page.

I played around with the idea to create much detailed bakground in each and every panel to do some world building and let people find all those little details in which their world is different from ours (watchmenlike), but because I'm not scripting it and the writer focussed on the emotions and not the environment I decided to skip that, because it would detract from and work against the emotions.

I can kinda relate to that. Except with actual people. Your line art is awesome in your comics. Although in this page I would have liked to had seen some background, but either way it works.
