Filler Art: Star-Lover and the Star 3

For my final project in Renaissance Literature, I did three pieces based on Philip Sidney's Astrophil and Stella, names that more or less translate to "Star-lover and Star." Astrophil and Stella was the sonnet sequence that started the sonnet sequence craze. Over 108 sonnets and eleven songs, the speaker Astrophil tells the story of his obsessive love for Stella. This is part 3.

So, Astrophil has gotten a confession of love from Stella, and they spend joyful time together. However, Stella has a restriction: though she loves him, their relationship must not get physical.

Astrophil breaks that rule pretty quickly. While Stella sleeps, he steals a kiss. Just read that text in the upper right corner. Yeah, he's kind of a jerk like that.

Stella is less than pleased. The sonnet sequence gets a little unclear at this point, and we don't know if it's because of the kiss, or if Astrophil tries to take things further or not, but Stella decides to cut things off. It's obvious that she still has feelings for Astrophil, but he's crossed the line, and she can't forgive him any longer.

Astrophil begs Stella to take him back, but she continues to refuse him. He never stops yearning for her. As for the symbolism up in the picture? By this point in my pieces, the sky is completely covered, and the Star-lover can no longer see the stars.
