Exciting news in Solar System exploration. Scientists now believe they’ve found liquid surface water on Mars!
This is significant, because as pointed out earlier, water is essential to protecting emerging life.

But sadly, as also pointed out earlier, a decent magnetosphere is also necessary. Mars currently lacks this, but it is believed that it had one at some point in the past.

Why does it matter if Mars had life on it or not? Past performance is a strong indicator of future potential. If the red planet could support life once, why not again?
