Chapter 3 page 11

Ahhh. Some old friends come back. You just can't keep a chattering, reanimated corpse down. Well not without some minor repair work first…at least.
I've really grown attached to these guys. I love my villains. As much as I love drawing Frank in all his gun blazing, automatic glory. I've missed these boys.
Feels good to be drawing them again.
So I titled this page The Good The Bad and The Ugly…Which pretty much sums up my struggle with my inking…Now, this is not an attempt at gathering sympathy or praise. No. This is a simple statement on my part to explain where I'm at…So let me explain.
The Good…as I look at my work I see parts that I like…As much as I like that first panel..Not sure if it's clear enough to show that we're looking at some gent sewing up the back of the head of another gent. As much as I like the artwork…Parts of this page I like and that's good.
The Bad… The constant need I seem to have, to over render my work. Just so you know I'm not a huge fan of the over feathered..over illustrated..over everything that seems to permeate the industry. Yet I still can't seem to stop myself.
The Ugly….My complete lack of ability to squeeze out some originality. As much I admire artists such as Frusin, Charlie Adlard…I can't seem to find that ability to simplify my work….Finding my own voice. I lack the simplicity.
Just as a side note..The medical surgery tools I show here are all real. I researched them. And to be honest..I had soem dental work doen last year. And with all the pain I was in..The dentist could have shown up with a blowtorch and I'd have welcomed him with a grin and have at it attitude.
However.
If a doctor walked in or had these on the table as I laid there…I would've vacated the premises via the ventilation fan in the mens room.
So with this post I will attempt another one by Saturday…depending on what the week brings….As always I appreciate the comments, suggestions and what not. See you soon. Jim
