Here's to another year of comics about Australian capitals doing dumb things!
Sydney's New Years Midnight Fireworks Show is renowned for being completely over the top, dramatic and ridiculously flamboyant (which is Sydney in a nutshell really), but they are pretty cool to watch. Apparently, it costs around 5 million dollars, and planning for each show has the planning start 13 months in advance. (In other words, yeah, they're already planning for 2013).They play them live (the whole 12 minutes of fabulousness) on national TV every year, and I actually just finished watching them.(It's probably my only New Years tradition. That and eating fairy floss while I watch it) [[To be honest, I think this year's ones werent as good as the previous years. The 'choreography' didnt seem as good, and they used a lot less suitable songs to begin with. It picked up in the second half and the ending was suitably boisterous at least, though.]]
I couldnt quite find a photo of the right size that does the fireworks justice, so you really should watch at least some of last year's show to see just how insane things get.
