Ch1, pg5 - Where the hardy group decend to the depths of depravity

And thanks be to my wife who took a few days to visit her mother with the kids (in another town - no marriage issues!) that allowed me to draw this.

That damned staircase. Took me over three frustrating hours. You almost got the crap version.
This page started like many others - with a picture in my head of them walking down the stairs which you saw a side view of only. But then I realised this would look crap and anti-dramatic, so the spiral stairs came in. AAAAAAAAAARG! I CANNA DRAW SPIRAL STAIRS!

Ahem.

Anyways, I would like to say I do not condone smoking, nor do I think it is cool, but this is a different age in a different universe, where smoking is a sign of class.

I like the last panel how they are all looking worried/surprised, except Phillipa, who still has her trademark stony expression. Makes her easy to draw…

I hope I gave you a feeling of an old, old castle where some lunatic has added some hasty, 'modern' touches without a thought of how it affects the mood of the place.

Soon the confrontation!!!
