Comic Preview: Blood Sword
taintedsilence onThe other of my two "most likely to work on first" comics, "Blood Sword" is about a girl who fights in a war (do I like war? Not especially. But its easy to write.)
In this world there are seven swords that were created, swords that were more powerful, swords that some would say were possessed, almost as if they had their own consciousness. They were the Blood Swords, and their power was greater than any man - than even any king. But these swords created great conflict, not only for man's desire to own one, but because these swords themselves lived to be used, to kill. For these swords drove those who wielded them to insanity, to the true nature of man - blood and hate and destruction. As time passed, those who were wise and those who feared these swords and the people who desired them began to attempt to destroy the swords, or imprison them. But as a great war broke out (think between two countries similar to perhaps france, though less wussy, and the british isles/scotland especially), these swords were revived again.
Enter the heroine, a girl whose brother has gone off to fight the war, while she stays home in a village seemingly untouched. But one day, a former hero, a man driven mad by the power of the sword, destroys all that she has loved. In a twist of fate, though, this sword falls into her hands, and she vows to take it up to fight against the "injustice" of the opposing country. She will become a hero, a "joan of arc" like character, but at what cost? Her naive justice? Her simple worldview? What is right and what is wrong? And what is a greater evil - the desire to kill, or the apathy to kill and never care?
This is the heroine, san. She's just awesome.
