The inspiration for this strip came from the news ticker at the bottom of my weather station. Often the ticker is filled with significant events, such as a shooting, or a bill passing, or something of that magnitude At the same time, however, there are often less important tidbits, such as "aquarium's new viper shed's first skin," which makes me say "is that really news?"
