Nice catch, if I do say so myself.

I also want to note that Birch doesn't necessarily know what the gun does. But what she does know is that she shouldn't like Zaroff, since, well, The Albatross doesn't like him. So anything that Zaroff would be doing would be detrimental to the plans Birch has.
