I've got no idea how Walker got in front of her.
I see Zaroff as being very much 'the ends justify the means' to reach his goal, it doesn't matter what he has to do.
Walker's 'death' affects both Rowan and Willow. Though because her dress changes its' hard to see, Rowan is bleeding from the area Walker got shot.
