And then, Chauvin killed George Floyd

It's hard to separate the early days of the Covid era from the murder of George Floyd by Derek Chauvin. The pandemic seems to have hastened things that were a long time coming. Prior to Covid, Black Lives Matter was slowly inching toward mainstream acceptance, and skepticism of modern policing was growing slowly. The lockdown rushed all this to a head. Whether meaningful change happens in the long run remains to be seen.

Apropos of nothing, when Heather said what she said in this panel, I briefly hoped I'd get to see someone's pet pig. You see, this rally took place in Owen Park in late spring/early summer here in Eau Claire Wisconsin. And that's the exact time and place you might expect to see hipsters and hippies ambling around with their random exotic pets.
