I know the visual doesn't match the prose. I couldn't really think of something to go with it, but I wanted to draw to relieve stress today and get in some art practice. So, I drew more of the setting and a full pic of Lydia during her musings.

I grew up in a relatively non-diverse town. I didn't know there were races until I was a teenager. Throughout childhood, I actually had a couple black classmates and one of my closest friends was half Venezuelan.(My favorite Barbie doll was also African American and had amazing hair.) It just never struck me that people were "categorized" like that.
