My original plans for this page were really simple. A close-up of Connie looking out the window. I first considered drawing the view from outside the car, looking in at her with a rough drawing of Grant in the background. When I looked at a bunch of "looking out car window" photos, I preferred the idea of the view from the inside, and it would give more of a Connie POV, which fits the narrative.
Even after deciding on that, it was a simple design. After I had a light outline of Connie, I started wondering what should be outside the window. I drew a fence… Then I got nostalgic (and maybe a little carried away). The entire landscape basically created itself on a whim, gradually generating components that felt right.
My boring original design became one of the most enjoyable pages to draw because I let loose, and the lines fell wherever they felt right.
