Anrikus has presented us with some totally bitchin' fan art! :D And coincidentally it's on a couple of my fave game series as well! (I believe that Ian would likely agree.) So thanks very much Anrikus, you get awesome points for this! :D THANK YOU!
So if I had to pick whether to visit Silent Hill or Raccoon City… I would pick Raccoon City (that's the setting of the first few Resident Evil games).
Pros of Raccoon City: The monsters are real, tangible creatures. The locations are familiar in the sense that they are coffee shops, streets, police station, etc. (The exception being the mansions and labs you stumble upon.) Most of the creatures are slow. You can find a way out of the city.
Cons of Raccoon City: Some of those creatures are fast, like those goddamn dogs! Some of the monsters are inconceivably strong (like Nemesis and Mr. X). There is no warning when something will pop out at you. If you get bitten, then technically you will die and become a zombie. The only weapons in the whole city appear to be guns, so unless you find a Katana, you better hope that ammo appears around you in gratuitous amounts. There's certain things you can't get out of without a partner/saviour, such as the room in the first game with the lowering ceiling (Barry saves you).
Pros of Silent Hill: There are other weapons than guns (you can play about 90% of the game with the axe or pipe or whatever). Quite a few of the formerly human creatures are slow. Most of the rooms/areas are generally empty. You have warning when a monster is nearby, thanks to your pocket radio. There is a small amount of optional exploring allowed, which is cool.
Cons of Silent Hill: That shit is SCARY!!!! You CAN'T leave, so if you decide to be a pansy you can't, cause once you're there, all sides of the city are straight cliffs into nothingness. There are some really scary people you meet. Randomly stuff with get all rusty and rotten and dark and scary and not even remotely good for your mental health. Pyramid Head rapes a mannequin monster thing and stalks you through the game which is very not cool. There are multiple endings to the game, which means in real life you could really fuck that up, too. Nothing makes sense, really. This is a personally designed hell for you, so everything is going to try and break you down. And finally, no really, this shit is super scary.
So…. has anyone played the remake/reimagining Silent Hill: Shattered Memories?
As always, all fanart can be sent via Drunk Duck or emailed to cirienphoenix@yahoo.com with the subject FanArt or something like that. :) Hope to see some soon!
