Partly because of the high turnover, it's common to refer to a têtê d'rue simply by their street's name. So when Edie says "Sullivan" in panel two, she means Murdoch: he's têtê of Sullivan Square.

Also in that panel, "sharp man" = a knife fighter of either gender.
