So yes, Armageddon is a bit of a pain because getting rid of him only makes him unbelievably powerful, and yet while allowing him to irritate others weakens him he remains immortal.
Something Mr. Evil forgot to mention is that if Armageddon has a particular target he wants to speak with in mind, his abilities appear to ramp up accordingly. 
Think of a more powerful version of "Flip" from the old comic "Little Nemo" and you get a pretty clear idea of what it's like dealing with him.
