A few days ago I saw a youngish, tall, skinny guy on a building rooftop in our little downtown, making some sort of light markings on an adjoining wall. I wondered briefly if he was the author of the large graffiti tag that had appeared on the stone wall in my little apartment building's front yard over the long weekend, but he didn't look furtive enough to be doing something he wasn't supposed to. Sure enough, next day he was there again, with half of a large, colorful "WELCOME […]" mural behind him. Today though, nobody was there, and the mural showed no further sign of progress. An eternally half-finished, cryptic "Welcome" mural might be an interesting town feature.
