Sword of Heaven

Track Six, Page 11
Blackmoon onIt took a while, but I finally drew it. Yaaaay me.
This is sort of a… "conceptual" page. It's more focusing on Komadori's state of mind and what he's thinking, so it's sort of outside-of-time, like everything's moving in slow motion for him, the only things he's aware of are himself and the thing which can potentially kill him.
Honestly, I think it was better as lineart. Everything looked a lot better, especially since I'm not too pleased with the shading. I had to try a different kind of shading on the third panel because I felt the thick black shadows obscured too much and made all my lovely artistic efforts a total waste. That's one of my main problems with shading like this- I go to all the effort of drawing something that looks great, and it gets to the editing process, and I realize I have to cover it with some black. That totally sucks. Which is why I tend to take a more impressionistic bent with the shadows and put them- more often than not- where they LOOK good, rather than where they should necessarily be all the time (which is why his right arm in the large shot isn't shaded much).
I hereby dedicate this page to Twilight Scribe (my Komadori fangirl) and Darth Mongoose (who likes it when I draw well). By the way, I'd like anyone who's reading (is there anyone there?) to help contribute to a new slogan for TnK. "For Metalheads" is apparently a bit of false advertising, but I can't for the life of me think of something else.
