Whew, glad that scene is over. Severnus's report is of course the two incidents from earlier in the story. So you see that King Falkimir isn't totally unaware of what happens around him unlike so many other characters in fantasy. Oh look, a whole orc raiding party just happens to infiltrate right through entire army. Monsters are all over the place and a trained professional army is totally helpless, call in the tiny team of adventurers! Or more likely go to the tavern and pick them up. Always a tavern in these things. Not here.

This also shows that Orshia and Armen know Searsha and that Falkimir knows Halfdan, so these characters do not exist in a vacuum until the story brings them together. People know each other. Orshia and Searsha have a long history as does their sorceress Larya and Searsha. That's the next scene in fact. Larya and Searsha kind of grew up together. If you want to call serving girl to a teen-aged courtesan growing up together. If this telling ever gets that far, there is a flashback going over everything. Maybe.

And just who are in this delegation? You think it has something to do with the title of the comic? It probably does. After all we're on page 37 and the Sword of Kings hasn't even been mentioned yet. Just a hint though, the badge of office of the High King of Narthatheia is not a crown; it is a sword.
