When this comic was first done back in 2008 there were some remarks about the inappropriateness of some of the costumes. At the time there was some movie with some actress (Kate Beckingsdale?) where she did all her fighting in a corset. So I wrote this page. Chain mail bikinis are great for cosplay but would be worthless in battle. In fact chain mail needs to layered over leather or other padding, even just clothing, to be effective. Over bare flesh every hit would send the mail into the flesh doing as much damage, if not more, than not wearing the armor at all.

Look at how Aleeka is dressed. She is wearing lamellar armor of small pieces of leather tied together. We know it best from Samurai, but it was found most places from the Levant to Japan. Mongols and Saracens both wore it. It could also be made out of small metal plates sewn together, but as a horse archer, Aleeka's is boiled leather.

This scene happens at the same time as Randall is writing his letter, hence the transition. Some of the character interaction has been changed in the re-write because originally Searsha was still at odds with Aleeka. Now something else is on her mind. Her sorceress sense is tingling.
