Book Two, page 30

All the party saw the images since Searsha projected them into their minds as she read the events from the object. So the Norsemen and Aleeka all saw it.

Ragnar has a guilty conscience and is echoing what Arnora said when he gave her the circlet way back in Book One, page 22. He won't come out and say he feels responsible for what happened (he did give Arnora the gold) but the suspicion is there. Halfdan infers that those guilty in the eyes of the gods have been punished. Ragnar is probably wondering what the fates have in store for him now.

I was sorely tempted to name one of the bandits Harvey or some play on Weinstein but decided not to include any topical references. After all this was written way back in 2004.

Thank you everyone for your comments. I should warn you that last page will not be the last shocking or intense scene. After 130 pages it's about time things started getting going.
