Book Two, page 46

Another page of wrapping up the events with an example of a "sending" both words and things. A sender can only send to someone they know, so Searsha sends to Larya. Theoretically speaking she could also send to Elsa or Glorianna, even Glorreaka. But it's doubtful Glorreaka would accept any sending. One sorceress can send approximately three times her own weight. Two sorceresses working in tandem would double that again; so it would be three times their combined weight times two. That's pretty much the maximum unless working in dark magic. In dark magic blood is used as a catalyst to create a gateway that folds space. One could send armies using dark magic, but one would also have to sacrifice hundreds to provide the necessary blood. The Dark Ones' hunger must be sated for it to work. This all comes up later in Book Two and Book Three. If it ever gets done.

I have the pages for this week and to do any more I'd have to shoot the inserts with the recast Elsa figure. Except that I am really coming to believe this thing just isn't working. I had thought if I cut back on the silly jokes and the boobs I could perhaps appeal to more readers. Nope. Not Bravo. It's dolls. The nuances of characterization and a somewhat original story line don't matter. Predictable crud is what everyone reads because it's drawn, doesn't matter how derivative it is or the fact that every scene is ho-hum predictable to me.

Once again it proved to be too much for me to pull off. The re-write is going into the 12th draft and the comic would probably top 500 pages and do I really want to invest that much time and effort into something that basically has four commenting readers with occasional guest stars? You have no idea the effort that goes into any scene with horses. Moving a mounted character around is like moving three-four figures as a bunch. Posing the horse requires all kinds of supports and lots of time and space. It was nice to revisit it and do some practice updating and refining but my interest and passion and patience has waned substantially. This thing is barely staying in the top 100 comics on DD If the comment notification ever goes into effect the page views would be cut by at least a third because I check the pages that much looking to see if there have been comments.

There are so many other things I'd rather be working on and I don't want this weight hanging around my neck like a dead albatross. Face it, it stinks. It's dull. The layout is drab. It's dolls. It doesn't matter that better action sequences are posed here than any number of drawn comics, it doesn't matter that the costumes are REAL, and worn as opposed to sprouting out of a pen like Athena sprouting fully grown from the brow of Zeus. A lot of drawn costume just couldn't work on people without lots of double sided tape and very carefully posed action and a seamstress constantly on hand for repairs. And double sided tape, padding and underwire.

So I'm going to simplify and do something that isn't 500 pages long. And go back to being funny and having lots of boobs and pectorals. I need fast paced and zany as opposed to turgid and melodramatic. More fighting. Less Lord of the Rings and more Barbarian Queen (Battle Girls in Hell? The Barbarian Sisters? Japanese School Girls versus the Nazis? that war comic I've been wanting to do forever?)

But no more of this. Life is too short to keep whipping this dead horse. Sure the best was yet to come but only mixed in another hundred pages of endless plot. If this got over 20 likes, if it got 20 separate comments on a page, but the effort I put into this could be better spent on other things.

And did I mention that it stinks and it's dolls?
