A delightful musical look at the drafting of the Declaration of Independence. Most of the book and a lot of the lyrics are from the actual words of those present. Amazing stuff.
Happy Fourth of July.

Best non-musical version of the event is of course the John Adams miniseries episode "Independence" https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1257755/

This ain't no patriotic flag waving on my part. This is history. A moment when a group of men decided to pledge their lives and sacred honor to something bigger than themselves. Something special happened in that hall in Philadelphia the summer of 1776. Something we'd all do well to remember.

Countess Orshia and Count Armen have petitioned Prince Thord to rescind the order declaring Princess Arianne dead. If you remember, Arianne is now known as the sorceress Glorianna. She was declared dead by her father since she pursued magic rather than her duties as a member of the royal family.

And here's Thord, being Thord and throwing a temper tantrum. That Prince Herbert figure just lends itself to those sort of things. And poor Illya. One gets the feeling that Arianne knew how to rein Thord in whereas Illya is a harmless little dip with good intentions. With her gone, Thord is certain he will be king. He must be king! And with Illya married to Falkimir it's within his grasp and now this outrage!

Byt the way for those keeping score the last bare bosom was back in the sexual assault sequence around page 29. But that was pretty serious and in context with the brutality of the world. So this isn't exactly a boob fest.
