Supporters say he wasn't closet case gay, so its okay for him to go after homosexuals.

I guess it would be okay for him to attack blacks because he is a pure Caucasian? I think it just means he wasn't a *hypocritical* bigot who contributed to the deaths of thousands because of America's slow response to AIDs in the '80s.
