I canNOT believe the weather here. No snow on Christmas, then snow right in the middle of April! 10 centimetres of it! What is this madness? It's like a lake effect thing, only we're not next to a lake. And then it's supposed to go up to 19 degrees Celsius this weekend. Mother Nature's got some issues this year.
This page is comprised entirely of faces. Mostly Dragon faces. It's somewhat annoying, but I did notice that all the current characters are displayed.
I inked this page on the computer to see how it would look. I noticed that when I'm drawing lines carefully they tend to end up all wiggly/wavy/shaky looking. I'm not entirely sure why. So then I went back and forth with the inked layer and the scanned layer and sort of did a compromise, erasing parts of the ink I didn't like and connecting the scanned lines to the ink lines. It worked pretty well. I'm still thinking of reverting to doing that for every page, and maybe even just scanning the pencil lines and not inking them on the paper.
Notice how Leanael's ears go up in the second last panel. Her ears show expression, as do all ears in ToK that aren't just holes in the side of the person's head, and people with those ears usually have something else, like Xeari and her cheekwings. There are no human ears. They're hard to draw and no fun anyway. And I realized recently that it's not only Vark who has funny ears - Ciaran's are pretty cool too. Well, I've always laughed at his ears, but never at Vark's. Hmm. I seem to be out of practice drawing Ciaran's ears. They don't look as cool as they used to.
By the way, Ciaran and Kaida are the only names on Kenah I didn't invent - Kaida because she's actually from Earth, and Ciaran just because it sounds cool. When I went back to the website out of curiosity to find out how Ciaran was pronounced, it said it was something along the lines of "KEE-rin," like the name "Kieran." Well, I'd always thought in my head "see-ARE-ann." So on Kenah that's how it's pronounced. Sorry to anyone out there with that name.
