066: Feline Spirit

[EDIT - JUNE 08] Um… I tried to update this page to blue colour instead of the purple, and I followed the suggestions in the forums and such, but the page just disappeared and won't come back… x_x;;; You can find it here for now. I don't think I'll be able to get it back here until they fix the image bug… [END EDIT]

My first proper update this year, over a month after it starts, sucks. X_X I'm probably gonna update as the pages get done, and not bother with a schedule. We'll see.

Summoning planetary energy, Leanael called upon the power of her Spirit. She couldn't move her body now, but her spirit, invisible, could inflict damage. In a snakelike shape, her Spirit shot across the floor at her opponent. Half a wingspan in front of him, it slowed. She wanted to be precise. The long figure stretched into a large humanoid form, completely covered in fur, with hind feet like a cat's, a long, striped tail, and small feathered wings. She crouched, aimed, and pounced. Her hands struck Ciaran's shoulders, pinning him down, and its feet held his knees. She savoured the surprised expression she got from him.

This page is made of FAIL. X_X;;;;; I hate it. I made the thumbnail vague expecting to know what to do later, which of course I didn't. I drew and inked the page and it sucked, so I kinda fixed it by inking it digitally (look at the drawn date compared to the completed date - my drawing skills must have improved at least a little between them… O_o). I forgot how I do colour, but I liked how it looked in page 65, so I tried to sorta do that again. It's hard to show the form of stuff that's a single colour. The particular type of "magic" that Leanael's using is invisible at the moment, so I made it semi-transparent. I hope the glowiness at least partly compensates for the horror that is this page.

The Spirit form in the big bottom panel is how Leanael sees herself spiritually, or something like that. No, she is not naked. She's covered in fur. You can't tell because it's short and I didn't want to draw her fuzzy. Her feline aspect is very important to her, yet she still finds comfort in her humanoid shape. And her Spirit doesn't need wings to stay aloft (gravity doesn't affect Spirits), but wings are important symbols to her, so they're there, just small.

Sorry for taking so damn long to update. Operation "work like crazy on the comic" doesn't go so well when you get bored. @_@ Thanks for sticking with me, though. ^^
