He single-handedly solved the problem of mathematicians having absolutely nothing to do once they'd got university degrees, so convinced them to devote 360 years to solving a problem which was nothing more than a note in a side margin. He is my Hero Of the Week. Plus I actually understand this sort of maths, where I can't work out some of the simple stuff in my head eg 456/23. This is why I failed maths and did archaeology. I may also fail archaeology- I'll find out in 2 months time.
