Episode 23: Kicking Through The Game

Funny story about this episode's title.
Used to be a commodore 64 game, called Bard's Tale. A text adventure with actual pictures. I came to play it in 1996, by which point the instruction book had disintegrated. I only found this out after loading the game, which had taken about 10 minutes. I don't like giving up when I've already spent a lot of time on something. Or when I've got nothing better to do (Tank Quest itself is testament to both). So I just pressed every key on the keyboard until I found that the letter K made the characters kick things- and incidentally they moved forwards every time they kicked. So I spent the first two hours of gameplay literally kicking through the entire game. Doors, zombies, NPC's, upstairs windows, bars… you name it, I kicked it.
