My mother and I had a thorough, lengthy, beautiful discussion about a movie that means a lot to me, Midsommar. And much like Black Phillip in The VVitch, the “familiar” in Midsommar is Chekhov's bear.

So have a heavily inspired idol, the “bear in the cage”. Don’t be such a bear!

Chekhov’s bear hood emotes and mildly gesticulates the arm-scarf depending on how the idol feels.

The idol mask can withdraw into the hood and the bottom jaw can close, to “camouflage” the large front of the bear. The back velvet moose legs give the “realistic bear” look away though…
