I made this comic some time ago. I was really excited when I was posting this one.

Jokes, I feel, need a touch of insight. They shouldn't be so obvious that it kills the joke, and they shouldn't be so difficult to figure out that no one can understand it. It's a delicate balance between too easy and too hard. Finding that sweet spot…is tough. I thought this comic was a good representative of this formula. If you get it, it's due to some common knowledge, but it takes a second for you to maybe connect the dots.

At any rate, this comic didn't go over very well when it debuted. Some of my friends didn't even notice that the bereveaved husband was a hair dryer. They felt that I should have made it more obvious…and missing that key part of the joke obviously ruined for them.
