Look at that white panel border. Look at it.

I take back everything good I've said about the magic wand. Somehow it simultaneously notices the subtle differences in the different shades of grey along the edges of Val's pips and can't tell the difference between one of her shaded sides and the floor. The method I ended up using involved selecting the floor instead of the characters, so the first thing didn't come up, but it was still annoying.
